Dr. Cheri Honnas

Originally from Bryan, Texas, Dr Cheri Honnas followed in her veterinarian father’s footsteps, studying at Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, before moving into the field. Dr. Honnas later returned to Texas A&M for her residency before she began working overnights at Lakeway Veterinary where she learned key information about what it means to be an emergency vet. With a clear vision for what Honnas Veterinary should be based on the needs of Austin’s pets and their owners, Dr Honnas then opened her own vet clinic on South Lamar Blvd, where she leads a team of caring and devoted staff, to deliver a range of veterinary services with excellence.
DR. Grace Thornley
VETERINARIAN
Dr. Thornely graduated with high honors from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and has since made a big impact in the veterinary sector due to her positivity, curiosity, and warm presence. When Grace is not caring for animals, you’ll find her playing pickleball, baking sourdough bread, or taking her pup Bunny to the park. She especially enjoys meeting new patients and their people—building strong relationships from day one and helping pets live their happiest, healthiest lives.
DR. Cailin Wong
VETERINARIAN
Dr Cailin Wong joined Honnas Veterinary in July 2025 after graduating Cum Laude from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, so we are extremely excited to have her on board. As a Fear Free Certified Veterinarian, Dr. Wong is all about meeting patients where they are, both emotionally and physically. She takes time to understand each pet’s individual needs, bringing empathy, patience, and a personal touch to every visit.
DR. Eddie Valdez
VETERINARIAN
Dr. Valdez joined Honnas Veterinary after moving from Colorado to Austin with his family. What he loves most about veterinary medicine is building relationships with clients and patients — being there for them on the highs and even the lows is what makes this work meaningful to him. He attended Colorado State University, where he served as President of his class’s Executive Board for three years. Before vet school, he worked as a veterinary technician and ran his own landscaping business for seven years — a true testament to his dedication and work ethic. One of his greatest strengths is communication. He’s passionate about educating pet owners, making them true partners in their pet’s care, supporting his technicians, and providing a spectrum of care that meets each family where they are.
DR. Dyon Basdeo

Dr. Dyon Basdeo joined the Honnas Veterinary team after moving here from Maryland, bringing with him a deep passion for veterinary medicine and a warm, people-first approach to care. His favorite part of the job is helping foster the human-animal bond and advocating for those who don’t have a voice. Whether it’s a first-time pet parent or a lifelong animal lover, Dr. Basdeo truly values getting to know people — their stories, their pets, and how he can best help. He brings positivity, joy, and genuine care into everything he does, and it’s one of the many things we love about him.

Skyla joined the Honnas Veterinary team after moving from Oklahoma to Austin with her family, bringing with her a genuine passion for veterinary medicine and a heart for patient care. She has a strong passion for diagnostic imaging, cardiology, and overnight care — the areas where attentive, compassionate nursing can make all the difference. Whether it’s capturing a clear image, monitoring a heart patient, or being there for a pet through the night, Skyla brings focus, skill, and warmth to everything she does. Skyla brings so much compassion, positivity, and empathy to her work every day, and it’s one of the many things we love about her.
NICK FOLKS
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Nick is our dedicated Director of Operations, ensuring our hospital runs smoothly by overseeing protocols, inventory, and staff support. He has also fostered strong connections with other clinics in the area, strengthening our network of care. With over 10 years of experience working with animals, Nick brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to our team. He is certified in both ultrasounds and echocardiograms, as well as Fear Free Certified, reflecting his commitment to providing the best possible care for pets. Around the clinic, Nick is also known for lovingly caring for our two clinic cats, Crowley and Azazel, who are never far from his side.

Leighah first joined our team as a Customer Service Representative, but her dedication, quick learning, and willingness to jump in wherever needed quickly made her stand out. It wasn’t long before she made the move to Veterinary Assistant, where she continued to grow and take on new responsibilities. Now serving as our Hospital Manager, Leighah brings that same positivity, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn to everything she does. Her journey through different roles within the clinic has given her a well-rounded understanding of both our team and the care we provide. We’re so proud to have her leading and supporting our team!

Charlie is one of our Hospital Managers, but their journey here started at the very beginning — as a veterinary technician. Through hard work, dedication, and a genuine love for the work, they’ve grown into a leadership role that helps keep everything running smoothly at Honnas Veterinary. Before joining our team, Charlie spent several years as a groomer — experience that earned them the well-deserved title of large dog whisperer. There’s no big pup too nervous for Charlie to connect with, and that calm, patient touch carries into everything they do. Charlie brings joy, problem-solving, and a strong work ethic to everything they take on. Whether it’s supporting the team, calming a nervous giant, or keeping the hospital running like clockwork, we’re so lucky to have them on our side.

Amelia is one of our outstanding Veterinary Assistants, known for her compassion, dedication, and her willingness to always go the extra mile for both clients and patients. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Chemistry in 2024 and is now on her path to becoming a veterinarian, with plans to begin at St. George’s University of Veterinary Medicine in 2026. Her passion for animals and her drive to learn make her an invaluable part of our team, and we are so excited to support her as she works toward her dream of becoming a doctor of veterinary medicine.

Kennedy first joined our team as a Customer Service Representative, where she quickly became an essential part of the clinic. From answering emails and processing prescription requests to booking appointments and helping clients with their questions, her organization, reliability, and warm communication helped keep everything running smoothly. Now a Veterinary Nurse, Kennedy brings that same dedication and compassion directly into patient care. Her experience working closely with both clients and the veterinary team has given her a well-rounded perspective that continues to shine in her new role. Raven joined the Honnas Veterinary team as a customer service representative, and through hard work and a genuine love for the job, she’s grown into a role as a Veterinary Nurse — and she’s now cross-training in surgery. It’s a journey that speaks to her dedication, her drive, and her willingness to always learn more. Raven loves being able to help pets in need, and she’s always the first to jump in and lend a hand wherever she’s needed. Whether it’s supporting a surgery, comforting a nervous patient, or helping a teammate, Raven brings a can-do spirit to everything she does. In her free time, she loves attending raves with her friends — bringing that same energy, joy, and enthusiasm to life outside the hospital, too.

Lauren studies Biochemistry at Texas A&M University, where our Founder Dr Honnas also studied. When she isn’t studying or serving Honnas’ customers and patients with her wonderful smile and sweet service, she does ballroom and country dancing! Her motto is, “Always stops to smell the flowers (literally!)”.

Ever since she was young, Briana wanted to be a veterinarian – but she never thought she would actually be one! In her wors, “Life happened”, and she somewhat forgot about her dream until shae came to Austin and this role found her. At work, Briana truly enjoys working with animals and, at home she loves being a mom. We are excited to see what Briana’s future holds for both her career and with her family.
Jordan Lester
CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE
Jordan loves the veterinary field because she grew up in a house full of dogs of all shapes and sizes, from Chihuahuas to Cane Corsos. She jokes that she has always loved animals more than people! Jordan has 2 daughters who also share her love of animals. She tells us that they both bring her so much joy and she does it all for them. Jordan is currently in school studying social work but since working at Honnas, Jordan is considering changing her major because of how much she loves veterinary work. In her free time she is either painting or running her kids around for school and activities – working moms, y’all know the feeling!
